The Pierre Auger Observatory (PAO) is the largest observatory ever built to study ultra high energy cosmic rays (UHECR, E>1018 eV). Its hybrid detector system covers around 3000 km2 in the Argentinean pampas and consists of 24 fluorescence telescopes and of a ground array of 1660 water Cherenkov detectors. The Observatory completed its construction phase in November 2008. In the presentation, the most important results obtained by the PAO so far will be reported. They are the measurements of the UHECR energy spectrum, the arrival directions and the mass composition.
Anyone interested is welcome!
