PhD and postdoc positions in computational materials physics
at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland

Three PhD and postdoc positions are available in my start-up group at
the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de
Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. The theoretical research will focus on
graphene and topological insulators with a particular emphasis on
their electronic, transport and magnetic properties as well as on
nanostructures and defects. Group members will benefit from
outstanding computational facilities, close collaboration with
experimental groups and the proximity of CECAM.  Salaries are among
the highest in academic research. The appointments are expected to
start in Fall 2011.

The applicants should have a university degree in physics, theoretical
chemistry or equivalent, experience in programming (FORTRAN) and
performing electronic structure calculations as well as excellent
level of English. In addition, the candidates for PhD positions are
subject to admission to the doctoral program in physics
( http://phd.epfl.ch/page-19796-en.html). Interested applicants should
send their (1) application cover letter, (2) CV, (3) publication list
and (4) the contact information of several references to Dr. Oleg
Yazyev < yazyev@civet.berkeley.edu>.

Applications submitted before May 15th, 2011 will receive full consideration.
